Test and measuring equipment

A noisy application might be caused by wavy bearing components, local defects in the rings and balls or by dirt particles in the bearing. While basic requirements on a bearing like stiffness, load capacity, speed limit and service life play a critical role in applications, low noise and vibration are becoming even more important.

All of these bearing quality issues can be tested with bearing vibration equipment by SKF.

High tech analysis and measurement such as frequency analysis (FFT) and further advanced analysis pinpoints faults. Spectral masks help to optimize the bearing performance in the particular customer application.

With some experience, the measurement results of these machines can also be used by experts to detect imperfect manufacturing steps, such as missing honing for example. The introduction of a worldwide calibration system permits vibration equipment to be set to operate according to international standards.

Waviness on the bearing components can cause high vibration levels in most applications.  As the amplitude of these waves is as small as some nanometers, you can understand the importance of measuring accuracy and resolution.

Waviness testers from SKF allow analysis of the waviness on the components and thus give the production engineer a powerful tool to improve the production process.  Because low noise and vibration of bearings is becoming more important, there is a high demand on the measuring accuracy and resolution.

Rotational measuring system with top concentricity precision, with electronics and mechanics combined to perfection.
Air-bearing spindle with run out better than 0,02 µm and velocity-proportional evaluation gives you direct indication of the waviness level of the component.
The calibration of this equipment is also very important and is performed to an excellent standard by SKF.

SKF Grease Test Rig BeQuiet+ assesses the grease noise in rolling bearings.
SKF Grease Test Rig RST-T200-P4 is used for testing the shear stability of lubricating greases.
SKF Grease Test Rig R0F+ assesses the grease performance at high temperatures and speeds.
SKF Grease Test Rig RHF 1 assesses the grease performance at high temperatures and highest speeds.The SKF Grease Test Rig EMCOR assesses the corrosion inhibiting properties of greases.
SKF Grease Test Rig EMCOR is standardized in DIN 51802, ISO 11007 and IP 220 for the standard method using distilled water.
The SKF Grease Test Rig V2F assesses the mechanical stability of greases necessary to provide resistance to leakage under vibration conditions. The SKF V2F is standardized in SS 3653: Railways - Rolling bearings for axle boxes - Test of the mechanical stability of lubricating greases.
